A former Limerick-based Army private, Mr Patrick Troy (62), who had served in the Congo and who is stated to be dying from cancer in London, has had his wish to have his ashes when he dies brought to Limerick and scattered in the grounds of Sarsfield Barracks approved by the Army authorities.

Mr Troy, who resigned from the Army in 1970 to work in England, has been gravely ill in his east London home and wrote to Lieut Col Matt O'Brien, O/C Sarsfield Barracks, who acceded to his wishes.
