A former Cardiff City player today pleaded guilty to taking part in the violence after the club's FA Cup third round game against Leeds United earlier this month.

Cardiff Magistrates Court heard that 26-year-old Dai Thomas was captured on camera throwing a hoarding towards fans in the Leeds enclosure during the pitch invasion after the game on January 6th this year.

Mike Evans, prosecuting, said Thomas was at the forefront the crowd of fans who had surged onto the pitch after Cardiff beat the Premiership giants 2-1.

The court was shown video evidence of Thomas, who pleaded guilty to one count of threatening and violent behaviour under section four of the Public Order Act.
