CANBERRA - Australia's conservative government will consider overriding a controversial territory law, the world's first allowing assisted suicides, an official said yesterday.

The Prime Minister, Mr John Howard, said that the cabinet would consider using constitutional power to quash a Northern Territory law, due to take effect next Monday.
