Fyffes reported a 36 per cent rise profits in 2004 to push its profits above €100 million for the first time.
The fruit distributor - which is entangled in a legal battle with DCC chief executive Jim Flavin - credited a strong performances in Europe together with first-time contributions from acquisitions for the profits.
The company added that trading has been "satisfactory" in the first two months of 2005, particularly in continental Europe.
Total turnover for 2004 rose 11.5 per cent to €2,146 million. The acquisition of Everfresh Group AB in Sweden, in May 2004, accounted for €177 million of this increase.
Total turnover includes the group's share of turnover of its joint ventures and associates of €313 million in 2004, compared to €319 million in 2003.
