The Eastern Regional Health Authority has warned the general public to stay away from accident and emergency departments in hospitals unless they are seriously ill or injured.

The warning was issued in an effort to free up space in over-burdened A&E units.

Unveiling  a public awareness campaign, the ERHA reminded the public that those with minor ailments can be treated more quickly and just as effectively by a GP.
