A judge has ruled that an Englishman extradited here following the Lansdowne Road riots will have to stand trial on an assault charge.

Judge William Earley, who viewed a one hour video of events on February 15th, 1995, ruled that Mr Colin Graham McNulty (31) of Broadoak Way, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, had a case to answer.

He is accused of assault, occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, riotous assembly and criminal damage to the stadium.

Mr McNulty had contested evidence on the assault charge but Judge Earley sent him forward for trial on all charges to the present sittings of the Circuit Criminal Court. The defendant is on bail of £7,000.
