At least eleven people, including five children, drowned when a boat sank in the Bay of Bengal near the southern coast of Bangladesh, local officials said today.
The officials in Bhola district said by telephone the boat was overloaded and capsized as it tried to avoid colliding with another vessel moored near the coast.
"There might be several more missing, but we are not sure," staff at the local district chief's office said.
