Quantum Peripheral Products, one world’s largest supplier of computer tape drives, has confirmed that it is to create 120 new jobs at it plant in Dundalk, Co Louth.

Dr Kevin Delvin, managing director of Quantum Peripheral Products Ireland said discussions with IDA were already underway and that the expansion is expected to be complete by the third quarter.

Quantum’s Ireland facility currently employs 280 people.

In a statement, the company said the Dundalk operation is being actively considered as the location from which to "expand and continue to provide the highest levels of support to include the Asian and North American markets" as well as those in Europe and the Middle East.

"As global data demands increase, the time is right to consider expansion of these functions at our Dundalk facility," Dr Kevin Devlin said.
