The Burning Question: Do you think the cinema caters well for teens?

Teen movies like Dude Where's My Car? or American Pie are quite funny but in a very childish way - basically all the jokes are the same. Scream 3 was a complete joke though. The whole thing of taking off the teen horror flick had just been done to death by the time they made that. The film I most enjoyed recently was Erin Brokovich, although I don't normally like true stories. I suppose I enjoy films not specifically aimed at my age group.

I would go to the cinema about once a week - horror with my boyfriend, comedy with my mates. What annoys me is the way films which are rated 15 in the States are then re-certified as 18 when they come over here. It is ridiculous. Hannibal, Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer should all be 15. Teen films like Dude Where's My Car? are absolutely hilarious. The jokes are all stupid, daft type of funny.

I am interested in films but also there can be a real pressure to go and see something. Your mates can make you feel out of it if you haven't seen the latest thing. My mam and dad would never say to me that I couldn't see a particular film anymore. Last thing I saw was Coyote Ugly which was an 18. It was an excellent story. My favourite film of all time was In the Name of the Father - it really made you think, which a film should do.

Films for our age group are made by adults who are out of touch with what we are in to so they end up being patronising. Films like Dude where's my car? are just stupid and it's insulting to give us all this dumbed down humour. I like horror or true stories. I went to see Hannibal with my friends - I have never been refused to an 18 movie. I also saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon recently - amazing special effects.

I tend to watch films on satellite channels rather than go to the cinema. I like comedies but to be honest films for our age group aren't much good. I can't stand Britney Spears, so all those teeny-bopper, squeaky clean American comedy type films are just not for me. I like suspense or thrillers such as The Negotiator with Samuel L Jackson. The so-called teen thrillers like the Scream series are just a waste of time.
