MY TY WEEK:
Conor O'Meara, Portumna Community School, Co Galway
'OPENING NIGHT of our musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, is fast approaching. Everyone is that extra bit anxious since we have a long line of successful musicals in our schools. For me, the role of Joseph has been electrifying and demanding at the same time, but the thrill of "lights up" will make everything worth it.
“Mini-company has proved to be a rewarding surprise. Our company, Fire Fuel, was created when we put our farming background and people skills to good use. It may sound like a cliché, but we sell turf and timber by the bag to locals and it has proved to be very successful for us. The recent weather conditions all across the country have put a product like ours in high demand, fortunately for us. With competitions only a month away, we’re keeping our fingers-crossed.
“Concern Debating has been exciting, difficult and rewarding all at the same time. The thrill of standing in front of an audience, the passion and anger that flows through you as you get deeper and deeper into your argument and then all the effort you put in is worth it if your team is victorious. With two debates under our belt, we’re setting our hopes high.
“The list of activities could go on and on, from Young Environmentalist to Young Entrepreneur, Gaisce to gardening and new sports to new subjects. Opportunities come thick and fast, so all you can do is grab as many as you can while trying to hold on for the ride.”
