Gardening Evening in Dublin
St Andrews College, Booterstown Ave, Blackrock, Co Dublin is holding a gardening evening tomorrow at 7.30pm. The event will include a plant sale and talk on growing vegetables from Alec Dunne of Nature's Table. Admission €3.
Climate Change Lecture at UCC
"Climate Change - an introduction to climate change and a discussion of the efforts required to meet the climate change challenge" by Tom Bean, Director of Ventures, Ecology Foundation, will take place tomorrow at 8pm in Boole III Lecture Theatre, University College Cork. All welcome, admission free.

Young Social Innovators Showcase and Awards
The annual Young Social Innovators Showcase takes place in the RDS, Dublin tomorrow. More than 5,500 teenagers participated in the project-based programme tackling social issues of concern to them.
This year, 120 of the 400 projects completed will be exhibited, all contending for the "Young Social Innovators of the Year" title.
There are also workshops, a Speak Out youth theatre, poster gallery and "speakers' corner" as well as a special "YSI Den" where young people will be pitching for support and resources to continue their projects. The showcase takes place from 9.30am to 2pm at the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin. All are welcome. Admission: adults €8, students and OAPs €5. www.youngsocialinnovators .ie
MA in Visual Arts Education at NCAD
A new taught two-year programme at the NCAD, the course focuses on educational leadership in the arts, incorporating arts-led curriculum planning and community participation. It will be delivered mainly over two evenings per week and is aimed mainly at professional arts educators. For further information and an application form contact the NCAD admissions office. NUI Maynooth Europe Conference
NUI Maynooth will host the annual conference of the Irish Association of Russian, Central and East European Studies (Iarcees) on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th in the John Hume Boardroom, Hume Building, North Campus, NUI Maynooth. Cairo to Cape Town Challenge - Africa Day 2009
To celebrate Africa Day 2009, schools all over Ireland will be keeping fit and fundraising in aid of Link Community Development, on or before Friday, May 22nd. Schools and clubs participating in the Cairo to Cape Town Challenge may retain 15 per cent of the total funds raised.

Inaugural All Ireland Conference for Doctoral Researchers in Education.
The first all-Ireland conference for doctoral students in education takes place on Friday and Saturday May 8th and 9th at the School of Education, Roebuck Castle, UCD. The conference aims to provide a forum for doctoral students from all over Ireland to come together to present and discuss their research and extend their understanding of advanced research in education. The keynote address is by Prof Peter Mortimore (former director of the London Institute of Education).
