DCU Arts Week kicks off tomorrow with a comedy breakfast in the college restaurant from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon. Entitled, brace yourselves, Yokes Wit Jokes" (groan), comic performers will include Pat Ingoldsby, Theo Dorgan, Karl McDermot, Eugene Lambert and "Finnegan" and a host of student comic talent.

At 12 noon in the Larkin Theatre, Nell McCafferty will take the political middle ground with a diplomatically titled address on the topic of "Unionist Political Pygmies". The Budapest Wind Ensemble perform that evening at 8.00 p.m. in the Larkin and an "X rated puppet show" is also planned for Wednesday.

On Thursday, the National Chamber Orchestra will perform in Megabytes at 8.30 p.m. for a wine and song evening. Earlier in the day Roddy Doyle, whose latest novel, The Woman Who Walked Into Doors, is soon to be published will be in the Larkin Theatre from 2.00 p.m. - 3.00 p.m.

On Friday, the Ford Society Awards take place in the, restaurant at 12 noon, with £1,000 in good drinking money up for grabs for the best society. Finally, there will be performances each day of traditional music in the Seomra Gorm from 1.00 p.m. - 2.00 p.m more classical fare from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in the Chaplaincy from 12.30 p.m. - 2.00 p.m and raucous sounds from assorted bands in the college bar each afternoon.

Meanwhile, Saturday will boast street performers, clowns, storytelling and the Lambert Puppet Theatre from 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. in the Wilde Space, as part of DCU's Arts events for young people.

. DCU also has its own bus service at peak times. The 103 bus will run from Killester Dart Station and onto campus in the morning (8.35 a.m.) and from DCU to the Dart in the evenings (5.25 p.m.) to facilitate students travelling long distances.
