The Achill Archaeological Field School, set to run from June 4th to August 31st, is already taking bookings. The school specialises in a hands-on approach which gives students the opportunity to experience all aspects of the excavation and survey. Part of a project begun in 1991, it all happens in the Deserted Village, Slievemore, and the Achill Folklife Centre, Dooagh, Achill Island, Co Mayo. Activities combine fieldwork, excavation and documentary research as a way of studying a known prehistoric and historic landscape and students from many countries have attended the field school over the last 10 years.
