Brasilia - Ecuador and Peru signed a peace accord here yesterday, ending a border dispute that has dragged on for nearly six decades.

The Peruvian President, Mr Alberto Fujimori, and Ecuadoran President, Mr Jamil Mahuad, signed the agreement at a ceremony at the Brazilian foreign ministry. The agreement is guaranteed by the governments of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and the US.
