Ankara - The new left-wing minority government of the Turkish Prime Minister, Mr Bulent Ecevit, gained the backing of parliament yesterday with 306 votes for and 188 against.
Mr Ecevit's minority cabinet, formed from members of his Democratic Left Party (DSP) and independents, will remain in office for only three months, as early elections are already scheduled for April 18th. The slimmed-down cabinet includes 25 posts, and there are no women.
