The Democratic Unionist Party councillor, Mr Sammy Wilson, has rejected the peace agreement as a "sop to the united terrorists from the loyalist and republican side and a surrender to nationalism". Mr Wilson said the Union with Britain was "fundamentally weakened" by the deal and any unionist who tried to sell it was "both a charlatan and a liar".

He said: "This agreement, which is supposed to be balanced and fair, will result in policemen being put out of their jobs and terrorists being let out of jail."
