British Conservative Party leader Mr Iain Duncan Smith stood defiant today as his policies on student tuition fees were drowned out by a barrage of questions over his leadership crisis.

Mr Duncan Smith insisted he would lead the party into power at the next election.

The Tory leader reiterated his belief that he would remain at the head of the party despite calls by senior party donor Mr Stuart Wheeler for him to be replaced.

He was visibly frustrated as his attack on the Blair government's tuition fees was yet again overshadowed by reports that Tory members have lost confidence in his leadership.
