A Dublin pub that came under fire yesterday over a bogus disabled toilet today said it was installing new facilities and urged wheelchair users to return.

The Mezz bar in Temple Bar was criticised for having a door with a gold wheelchair sign with nothing behind it. The Forum for People with Disabilities said it was the most ridiculous case it had ever encountered.

"To have a door in a wall, pretending it's accessible to disabled people, is completely ludicrous. I don't know who they're trying to fool," said director Ms Mary Keogh.

However, management at the bar said workmen were installing a new disabled toilet that would be ready by tomorrow at the latest. They said the original toilet had been removed during renovations.
