More than 2,000 people have signed a petition demanding a multi-denominational secondary school in Dublin city, according to campaigners.

Parents from five Educate Together primary schools in Dublin signed the petition because of overcrowding in other secondary schools or because their children were not able to get places.

A public meeting is to be held on Wednesday to campaign for the new school.

There are 65 Educate Together primary schools across the State.
