Dual addiction studies indicate genetic predisposition in men

New research suggests there may be a common genetic vulnerability to nicotine and alcohol dependence in men. A study of 3,356 male-male twins looked at genetic and environmental contributions to lifetime nicotine and alcohol dependence. Reporting in the current issue of the Archives of General Psychiatry, the researchers found that there were likely genetic influences for dual dependence.
