A man who worked as a drugs courier has been jailed for 6-1/2 years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Brian Lawrence (54), from Yorkshire, was found with £28,000 of cannabis when apprehended by gardai at Busaras in Dublin on June 6th last year.
Lawrence, who has lived in Johannesburg in South Africa for more than 20 years, pleaded guilty to having the cannabis for sale or supply.
Det Garda Philip Collis, of the Garda National Drugs Unit, Aras with colleagues. They approached Lawrence who had a luggage department ticket in his possession. Lawrence recovered a suitcase for the gardai and it was found to contain the cannabis. said gardai learned Lawrence had been hired by a Nigerian supermarket owner in Johannesburg to make the drugs run.
