A Dublin docker who claims he contracted dermatitis due to handling wooden electricity poles which had been saturated with an allegedly toxic preservative is claiming £30,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court.

Mr Gerard Carrick, of Coultry Avenue, Santry, Dublin, is suing Dublin Port Stevedores Ltd; T.V. McGee and Co, importers, Mullaharlin, Dundalk; the ESB; and Unipole Forest Products, the Turkish pole manufacturer.

Mr Carrick is suing on grounds of alleged negligence and breach of duty on the part of the defendants, all of whom have entered full defences.
