Liverpool striker El-Hadji Diouf pleaded not guilty today to assaulting a Celtic fan during the club's UEFA Cup tie.

Liverpool striker El-Hadji Diouf pleaded not guilty today to assaulting a Celtic fan during the club's UEFA Cup tie.

The Senegal striker is accused of spitting at a fan during the quarter-final match at Celtic Park in March.

Diouf (22) was excused attendance at the hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A trial date was fixed for September 4th.
