Gardaí in Shankill are appealing for witnesses after an explosive device was thrown at a house in Dublin last night.

Gardaí in Shankill are appealing for witnesses after an explosive device was thrown at a house in Dublin last night.

The incident happened at approximately 10.30pm when the device was thrown through the front window of a house in Castlecourt Estate off Killiney Hill Road.

Damage was caused to the front room of the house which was unoccupied at the time.

Army technical experts were alerted and the scene was declared safe at 1am today.

Gardaí have sealed off the scene pending a technical examination.

Witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in and around the estate are asked to contact gardaí in Shankill.
