Army bomb disposal experts made safe an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Johnsgate Village area of Limerick city early this morning.
The team arrived on the scene at 1.30am and made safe the “crude viable” device a short time later.
The area was given the all clear at 2.45am and the remains of the device were handed over to the Garda for investigation.
To date this year, Army bomb disposal teams have been called out 32 times.
