The Policed Service of Northern Ireland in Derry are investigating an allegation that a 14-year-old girl stabbed another 14-year-old girl outside St Cecilia's College in the Creggan area of the city, where both girls are students.

The alleged incident happened on Monday evening, but details only emergedtoday after a doctor at Altnagelvin Hospital reported to the police thathe had treated a girl for slight stab wounds to the arm and back.

A PSNI spokesman said the matter was under investigation and that officers investigating the allegation have interviewed the victim.
