A Bill creating a framework for decommissioning paramilitary weapons in the North completed its Commons stages last night. The Northern Ireland Arms Decommissioning Bill was given an unopposed third reading and now goes to the Lords.

The measure sets out a decommissioning scheme on the lines put forward in the Mitchell report on the issue, published a year ago. A similar measure is set to go through the Dail.
