DR EDWARD de Bono, who has been called “the father of thinking about thinking”, will deliver the keynote address at Cork Institute of Technology’s (CIT) annual Prize for Innovation, which takes place on Friday.

The competition, now in its eighth year, is open to all departments within the institute and awards cash prizes to those whose inventions and business ideas are judged most creative, innovative and most likely to succeed in the marketplace.

Previous winners have included Aqua Eye, a swimming aid for the visually impaired and Apri-Cot, an apparatus which acts as a sleeping aid for infants.

President of CIT Dr Brendan Murphy said that he was particularly pleased that a world-renowned figure such as Dr de Bono had agreed to view the CIT Prize for Innovation Showcase Exhibition.
