GAA:Limerick hurling manager Justin McCarthy continues to make a stance and insists he will see out his two-year contract despite the ongoing crisis within the county.
The biggest problem facing McCarthy has been the number of senior players refusing to play for him, 24 of Limerick’s most senior players are in exile which means they are set to field a largely development side in the league campaign just as Cork did during last year’s stand-off.
Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly said he sympathised with McCarthy’s plight at today’s sponsorship and kit launch in Dublin, but added that if ever he lost the dressing room he would resign.
“It’s an internal matter, it really is,” said Daly. “Like last year, in Cork, I just don’t want to get involved. I don’t know the ins-and-outs. They are complaining the communication wasn’t great, on one side. I heard Justin on the radio giving his view. Then the players gave another view the other morning.
“I don’t think I’d like to stay on board if I thought 24 guys didn’t want me,” added Daly in reference to the number of senior players refusing to play for McCarthy. “That’s just my own personal thing. But I don’t know the ins-and-outs of Limerick. I don’t want to know them. That’s their look out. My look out is that Dublin are a relatively happy camp.”
