Brisbane - A cyclone hit the north-eastern Australian tourist resort of Port Douglas late on Thursday night with winds of 170 km (105 miles) per hour. Emergency officials in the area urged people to take shelter and braced for major floods as Cyclone Rona dumped heavy rain on the area, in the far north of Queensland close to the Great Barrier Reef.
