A man is to appear in court this morning charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Dublin at the weekend.

The man (29) was arrested after a male pedestrian, in his 40s, died after being struck by a car on North Street in Swords early on Saturday morning.

The vehicle involved in the incident failed to remain at the scene. The deceased was removed to Connolly Hospital for a postmortem.

Gardaí said the man had been charged last nigth and is to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Parkgate Street this morning.
