Man charged with attempted murder after Derry stabbing

A 22-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a teenager in Magherafelt, Co Derry.

The 17-year-old male was stabbed in the incident in the Rainey Street area of the town in the early hours of yesterday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The charged man also faces two counts of possession of an offensive weapon. He is due to appear in court in Derry tomorrow.
