Irish woman missing in Ibiza for almost two weeks

Department of Foreign Affairs in touch with McCollum family

Concern is growing for an Irish woman living in Ibiza who has not been heard from for nearly two weeks.

Michaella McCollum Connolly, who previously had been living in Belfast, was working in Ibiza for the last few weeks and has not been in contact with family or friends for about 11 days.

According to her sister Samantha Connolly, Ms McCollum Connolly, who is in her early 20s, has her phone turned off and has not been active on social media.

On a Facebook message which has been made public, Ms Connolly said it was unlike her sister to not contact her family.

“None of Michaella’s new friends in Ibiza have been able to contact her also. The proper authorities have [been] notified and helping to trace her whereabouts,” she wrote.

“Michaella comes from a very close and loving family and we are all extremely worried that she hasn’t been in contact and that we cannot contact her.”

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said it was offering consular assistance to Ms McCollum Connolly’s family to help find her.
