Man faces court over cannabis resin worth €234,000

A man in his 40s was to appear in court this morning charged in connection with the seizure of 39kg of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €234,000 on the M1 yesterday.

The man was to appear in Court 2 at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit laid the charge against the man.

He had been arrested at a service station on the M1 southbound between junctions 5 & 4 yesterday at about 9am after an intelligence-led operation.

He was being detained at Balbriggan Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
