HUNGARY: Pilot error probably caused a Slovak army plane to crash in January, killing 42 people, mainly Nato peacekeepers, an army spokesman said yesterday.

The Soviet-built AN-24 carrier crashed into a mountain in Hungary on January 19th after starting its descent into a Slovak airport too early. The air crash, Slovakia's worst, killed soldiers and support staff on their way home from a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, leaving one survivor.
