NICOSIA - The Supreme Court in Cyprus yesterday cancelled the appointment of an MP to a seat in the House of Representatives vacated when the previous incumbent was appointed Attorney General last year.

Seven of 10 judges in the court said by elections should have been held to fill the vacancy left by Mr Alecos Markides of the right wing Democratic Rally party, part of the ruling coalition, in February 1995.
