Dublin District Court has lifted an order granting anonymity to a Dublin-based garda charged with viewing child pornography.

Garda Darach Kennedy (38) was based at Garda Headquarters in the Phoenix Park. He faces two charges under the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act.

In June he was granted anonymity by the President of the Court, Mr Justice Peter Smithwick. However, he lifted his order today following an application by The Irish Timesand other media.
