Mrs Justice McGuinness adjourned until Wednesday an application by Dr Michael Forde SC, counsel for the principals of the pregnancy counselling agency, seeking to attach and commit to prison for alleged contempt of court officials of Independent Newspapers and sequestrate the company's assets.
When Dr Forde, who appeared with Mr Kieron Wood, told the court he was also seeking an order restraining the Irish Independent or anyone with notice of the court's order from publishing any further matter in relation to the case, Mr Kevin Feeney SC, for the Independent, gave an undertaking in the terms of the order sought.
Dr Forde said his clients were seeking to attach and commit Irish Independent editor, Mr Vincent Doyle; the newspaper's health correspondent, Ms Eilish O'Regan; the Independent Newspapers Group and its chief executive, Mr Liam Healy, for what he described as a blatant breach of the order of Ms Justice Laffoy in yesterday publishing the name of a pregnancy counselling agency and two principals of the agency.
Dr Forde said he further sought an order restraining journalists and media personnel from attempting to make any contact with the mother of Baby A or any member of her family. He unsuccessfully sought to have all matters before the court heard in camera.
