Dublin Corporation has approved 31 recommendations on the taxi/hackney industry, including the right for hackneys to carry identification signs, to use two-way radios and to use bus lanes.

The recommendations, which the corporation does not have the power to implement, will be sent to the Minister for the Environment after they have been discussed by the other Dublin local authorities next week.

The Irish Taxi Licence Owners' Association, which opposes the recommendations, has called a meeting for the Northside Shopping Centre at 8 a.m. this morning.
