Cork man dies while climbing in Co Kerry

A Cork man has been killed in a climbing accident at the Black Valley in Kerry's Macgillycuddy's Reeks last night.

A Cork man has been killed in a climbing accident at the Black Valley in Kerry's Macgillycuddy's Reeks last night.

His body was removed to hospital in Tralee by a helicopter crew from Shannon and the Kerry Mountain Rescue team.

The man, believed to be in his twenties, was the fourth climber to die in the Magillycuddy's Reeks since Christmas.

In Donegal, a man who died yesterday evening after getting into difficulty while diving off the Meavagh pier has been named. He was Mr John McGarvey (41) from Gortahork, Co. Donegal.
