Limerick gardai are concerned at the growing number of assaults on women in recent months.

There have been six assaults against women since last September, according to Det Sgt Tom O'Connor, of Roxboro Station.

Gardai are checking if any of the assaults are related.

Early on Monday night a woman was robbed of around £120 at knifepoint as she walked along Charlotte's Quay. A man aged between 18 and 21 and wearing a tracksuit is being sought.

Over the weekend two women were attacked in vicious assaults in the O'Connell Avenue area within a minute of each other. Gardai at Roxboro, tel 061 419555, are seeking information.
