Cork Constitution 43 Garryowen 17
Cork Constitution brushed aside Limerick rivals Garryowen 43-17 at Temple Hill to reach the final of the All Ireland League where they will meet Shannon who beat Clontarf 15-12.
The Cork men ran in five tries and with four minutes remaining led 43-5. Garryowen were denied possession and territory and spent the afternoon on the back foot from the first minute.
Indeed, Con’s aggressive in-your-face approach meant that they found themselves with a four man overlap in the second minute, but a poor pass saw the certain try go a begging.
They didn’t have to wait long for their opening score which came in the seventh minute from centre Conor Mahoney.
Garryowen managed to hang on and restricted Con to a solitary penalty from Ronan O’Gara after half-an-hour.
With just a couple of minutes to the break Garryowen hauled themselves back into contention with a try from lock John O’Sullivan. Con hit back almost immediately with a converted try from Ultan O’Callaghan.
After the break Con scored three tries through Cian Mahoney, John Kelly and Derek Dillon.
David Wallace and Dominic Crotty crossed the line in the last four minutes to put a little bit of respectability on the scoreboard for Garryowen.
