Britain's Compass Group today agreed the second stage of its hotel disposal programme with the £810 million sterling sale of the Posthouse chain to Bass.
Compass was formed by the demerger of British media and leisure giant Granada last year. Granada acquired the Posthouse chain as part of the bitter takeover battle for Forte Hotels in 1996.
Compass last week sold two London hotels for £105 million, and still has the Heritage and Meridien hotel chains to sell.
