A father and a daughter who died in a house fire in Castlebar, Co Mayo, on Saturday night will be buried together in Ballinaheglish Cemetery, Ballina, today.
Mr Anthony Magnone (35), a native of Co Monaghan, died while trying to rescue his 6-year-old daughter Toiri from an upstairs bedroom in the burning house.
He had managed to take his other daughter, Dawn (4), from the two story semi-detached property at Castle Park Hill before returning to the burning building for Toiri. His body was reportedly found in the kitchen while his daughter's body was found upstairs.
The remains of the two victims were removed to St Muredach's Cathedral last night.
