The 14-year-old boy who fell 35 feet at the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare was being treated for fractures of the arm and shoulder at University College, Galway, last night. His condition was described as ill but not life-threatening.

Peter Fitzpatrick, from Cornagorta, Doolin, was airlifted to hospital by the Marine Rescue Service early yesterday morning following his rescue. The boy, who had returned from the US with his family about six months ago, lay for about three hours on a beach where he had fallen before being hoisted up by members of the Doolin rescue unit, helped by local volunteers.
