Brussels - A 12-year-old Belgian boy has been stabbed to death by an adult assailant in a crime that has revived memories of the child sex, kidnap and murder case which shook the country to its core in the mid-1990s. The boy, who has not been named, was knocked off his bike in front of his brother, abducted and stabbed to death in a quiet suburb of the port city of Antwerp on Thursday night, police said yesterday.

Antwerp public prosecutor spokeswoman Ms Leen Nuyts said the boy had been knocked off his bike by an older man on a moped who offered to help him before dragging him away at knife-point in front of his nine-year-old brother. The boy was found in shrubbery two hours later with a cut throat and stab wounds to the chest.
