London - Charlie Kray (73), elder brother of the notorious Kray twins, was last night in hospital after a suspected stroke. He was taken by ambulance from Frankland Prison in Durham yesterday afternoon after complaining of chest pains, a prison source said. He was taken to the city's Dryburn Hospital, where he was last night said to be stable.

Kray was jailed for 12 years in 1997 for his role in masterminding a £39 million cocaine plot. His younger brother, Ronnie, died of a heart attack aged 62 in 1995.
