David Casey will be back in the saddle by the end of the week as he prepares to partner Rule Supreme in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The jockey has been on the sidelines since breaking his leg last November, but is set to return in time to partner the Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old, who he guided to success in Royal & SunAlliance Chase 11 months ago.

"I got the all-clear at lunchtime and I hope to resume at Clonmel (on Thursday)," Casey told the Racing Post.  "I've been riding out for the last couple of weeks and everything seems fine but it will be great to get back to race action on Thursday before the big one at the weekend."

In others news, Front-running Cloudy Bays, who finished fourth behind Grey Abbey at Cheltenham last Saturday, will be given a quick turn around and will take his place in Sunday's showpiece.

"He returned fine from Cheltenham and will turn out again on Sunday with Davy Russell riding," said trainer Charles Byrnes. "The Pertemps Final is still the plan for Cheltenham no matter what happens."
