A suspected suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle at a police station in the Iraqi city of Tikrit this morning, killing at least 15 people.
Police said a car driven by a man wearing a police uniform tried to enter the police station compound and then detonated when the man was challenged.
At least 25 people were reported injured. Tikrit, 110 miles north of Baghdad near the Tigris river, was Saddam Hussein's hometown.
Insurgents have frequently attacked local police, other Iraqi security forces and US troops in and around the town, although the number of attacks had declined in recent months.
