Cannabis valued at €13 million has been seized at Dublin Port.

Customs Officers discovered over one tonne of herbal cannabis concealed in a container lorry from South Africa today.

The suspect consignment was spotted by the Customs X-Ray Scanner. Officers then carried out a detailed examination and discovered six granite lecture stands stuffed with around 170 Kgs of cannabis.

"The seizure was made as a result of the ongoing monitoring and profiling of goods imported from a number of high-risk areas by the National Freight Intelligence Unit," a spokesman said.
